What is Taekwon-Do Kubz?
Our Taekwon-Do Kubz programme is a fun, confidence-building introduction to Taekwon-Do for our youngest tamariki, aged 4 to 6 years.
Created by Master Mark Hutton and introduced to Aotearoa through International Taekwon-Do, Kubz weaves together the exciting movements of martial arts with lessons in life-skills, safety, and communication. Each class is filled with laughter, energy, and learning, helping tamariki build balance, coordination, confidence, and self-control through games, challenges, and teamwork.
The programme also encourages a strong link between home, school, and the dojang, supporting the same positive values across all three. Tamariki learn about respect, kindness, and perseverance–the foundations of Taekwon-Do and of everyday life.
At Tiger Taekwon-Do, our Kubz classes provide a gentle stepping-stone into our older children’s programmes, giving tamariki the confidence to move, play, and grow in a safe, nurturing environment where every child can shine.
Mā te huruhuru ka rere te manu — Adorn the bird with feathers and it will fly.
Together, we give our Kubz the feathers they need to soar.
What Parents Love About Kubz
Confidence that grows every week
Kubz classes build self-belief through small successes. Every time a child masters a new movement or remembers to bow, their confidence soars.
Strong values and social skills
Through stories, teamwork, and games, tamariki learn respect, kindness, and perseverance–skills that carry over into home and school life.
Active, coordinated bodies
Each session develops balance, coordination, and control in ways that feel more like play than training–the perfect foundation for lifelong movement and sport.
A safe and supportive whānau environment
Parents and caregivers are part of the journey. We celebrate progress together, building a sense of belonging and connection that makes Tiger Taekwon-Do feel like family.
