What Is Taekwon-Do Mini Kids?
Taekwon-Do Mini Kids is a programme for 7 and 8 year olds who are ready to learn real Taekwon-Do skills in a clear, structured way. Each child receives their own workbook, which helps them follow along and understand what they are learning.
Mini Kids are not taught an easier version of Taekwon-Do. They learn the same techniques and skills that older children and adults learn in the International Taekwon-Do syllabus, but the lessons are arranged in a way that matches their age, understanding, and physical ability. This means they can learn safely, make steady progress, and build confidence over time.

The Syllabus
The syllabus is initially divided into levels, with a coloured stripe added to their belt after each successful testing. The testings are conducted at their usual club, approximately once a term. The higher levels often take a bit longer to complete. It takes most children between 1 and 2 years to complete all the levels, at which point they will be ready to join the Junior Class.
Class Days and Times
Mini Kids classes run during school terms on:
- Mondays: 5:00 pm – 5:45 pm
- Wednesdays: 5:45 pm – 6:30 pm
Most children attend both sessions each week, as this helps them build good habits, remember skills better, and progress more smoothly.

How the Mini Kids Syllabus Works
The Mini Kids syllabus is divided into several levels. After each successful test, the student receives a coloured stripe on their belt. Testing is held at their usual club, normally once per school term.
The higher levels take a little longer to complete because the skills become more detailed and require more practice. Most children take 1–2 years to finish all the Mini Kids levels.
Once they complete the full Mini Kids programme, children are ready to move into the Junior Class with confidence. If you’d like to see what the next stages of Taekwon-Do include, you can explore:

What Mini Kids Learn
In Mini Kids classes, children learn skills that support both Taekwon-Do training and everyday life. These include:
1. Correct basic techniques
Punches, blocks, stances, simple kicks, and movements from the grading syllabus—taught step by step in a way young children can follow.
2. Listening and focus
Mini Kids learn to follow instructions, stay on task, and work with their partner or group. These habits help them in school and at home.
3. Respect and responsibility
Children learn how to behave safely, treat others kindly, and show respect in the dojang and in daily life. If you want to understand why Taekwon-Do values are so important, you can visit Why Taekwon-Do?.
4. Confidence through progress
Every level completed, every stripe earned, and every technique mastered gives children a clear sense of achievement.
5. Healthy movement and coordination
Classes help develop balance, coordination, strength, and body control in a simple and safe way.
A Supportive Learning Environment
Parents are encouraged to support their child’s progress and stay involved. We believe learning works best when children feel comfortable and supported both at home and in class.
